If you've ever visited our Rustic Charm store in Breckenridge, you've probably stopped to take a photo with the horse bench. It's kind of a thing. But there's another landmark on the property that has its own story — and it starts with a poem Stephanie's grandmother used to recite.

"I never saw a purple cow. I never hope to see one. But I can tell you anyhow, I'd rather see than be one."
It was just a silly rhyme passed down in the family. Until the day Stephanie's dad Steve spotted a cow statue for sale at a closing garden business, right alongside the horse bench he knew they had to bring home.
He bought them both.

When the cow arrived at the store, Stephanie's mom Shirley joked it should be painted purple to match the old poem. Steve took that idea and ran with it, painting the cow purple as a surprise for her.
It fit right in. The purple cow became a favorite with families, a backdrop for photos, a conversation starter. Somewhere along the way, it slowly became the unofficial mascot of the store.

So when we were developing a new mulberry candle and needed a name, it wasn't a hard decision. A rich, fruity, slightly whimsical scent in a deep berry hue? That's the Purple Cow.
The candle blends juicy mulberries and sweet berries with a touch of cinnamon spice and hints of citrus. It's warm and playful, just like the story behind it.
This spring, Purple Cow is our Scent of the Month. It's a little bit of Breckenridge, a little bit of family history, and a whole lot of fragrance.
